A manageable platform for school information
School Website Development
A CMS built around responsibility
We would define structured content for news, key information and policy documents, with roles suited to the staff maintaining them. Review dates and named content owners can help keep publication organised.
Forms, file uploads and third-party tools need a careful data-handling review. Permissions, backups and an update process should be planned alongside the build.
DfE guidance, not an Ofsted compliance badge
The DfE guidance for maintained schools in England says schools must publish their behaviour policy and complaints policy. It also says they must publish their most recent Ofsted report or a link to it. [1](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/what-maintained-schools-must-publish-online)
We would map applicable publication items into the CMS and content checklist. This is not an Ofsted approval or a legal compliance guarantee: the school must confirm its status, applicable duties and the accuracy of its information. Academies have separate guidance.
Migration, testing and ongoing ownership
A rebuild should account for existing URLs, documents and links used by parents. We would inventory content, plan relevant redirects and test key journeys before launch.
Handover should cover editing, document replacement and maintenance responsibilities. Software updates do not replace a school-led review of whether published information remains current.
